Mammoth is a place where educated, healthy children are at the heart of a strong, vibrant and enduring community. Community starts with our children—those who live in Mammoth and those who may live elsewhere in California and the world but whose hearts and dreams are in the mountains. Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation funds and implements academic, athletic, and outdoor programs that bring kids from different backgrounds together at school and on Mammoth Mountain to learn, compete, talk, become lifelong friends and ultimately realize their full potential. Bringing kids and their families together around shared mountain experiences is what the extended Mammoth community is all about. Whether you’re in Mammoth on the weekends or for a lifetime, you are a member of this community.
Accomplishments & Aspirations
MMCF currently contributes over $200,000 per year to Mammoth’s schools and fully supports the Independent Learning Center (ILC), a blended learning program at Mammoth High School that offers academic rigor and flexible scheduling for young athletes and other students.
We invested $400,000 in 2012 to create a center for athletic excellence that serves the hundreds of kids who participate on the ski and snowboard teams, and to fund specialized coaching programs for Team athletes.
MMCF encourages and enables participation on the Mammoth Mountain Ski and Snowboard Team for any child, and supports young elite athletes’ aspirations. To this end, we give awards and grants to team members.
We believe in using the mountains as a classroom and getting more kids on snow and outside, year round.
Community Leadership and Support
MMCF aims to improve the quality of life in Mammoth through grant funding, programs and events, and by unifying the community through collaboration and support among organizations.
