Tucked on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Mammoth is home to a unique and diverse community. The Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation (MMCF) aims to enrich our community by focusing on its most important members — the youths. By furthering the academic and athletic opportunities for the community’s youth, MMCF works to make sure every child can be their best selves, in the classroom, out in the mountains, and as general human beings.
Since 2010, MMCF has contributed $1.2 million to Mammoth Unified School District (MUSD). These monies are used across K-12 levels, to support programs such as the Independent Learning Center (ILC) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) based learning. The ILC is a blended learning program at Mammoth High School that offers academic rigor and flexible scheduling for young athletes and other students.
In 2015, MMCF gave $125,000 in scholarships and grants to individual athletes and athletics programs. That money supported Ski P.E. programs throughout Mono & Inyo Counties, and helped Mammoth Mountain Ski & Snowboard Team athletes from around the world pay for travel, competition, and team fees.
In an effort to engage our community year-round, we own 36 road bikes that we loan to local kids, and are launching a Youth Mountain Bike Team this summer 2016.
MMCF is a leader within the community, and a partner to dozens of organizations around town. Though a variety of events — ranging from Galas to Gran Fondos — we aim to bring the community together for unforgettable experiences that also help raise funds.
